Have you recently upgraded your Ubuntu machine from version 16.10 to 17.04? Are you missing the "Open New Terminal" option that used to be there in the right-click menu of the terminal icon in the launcher?
If your answer to both these questions is yes, then you'll be glad to know that there exists a way using which you can bring back the option in Ubuntu 17.04. In this article we will discuss how to do this.
Restore "Open New Terminal" option in Ubuntu 17.04
The way out is quite easy - all you have to do is to open the /usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Terminal.desktop file in a text editor (say gedit):
sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Terminal.desktop
Then look for the following line:
OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity7;
And then comment it by adding a # in front of it.
#OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity7;
Save the change, and close the file. That's it. Now try right-clicking on the terminal icon in launcher, and you'll observe that the option you were missing is back.
